History

In 1987, Software Services Group was incorporated and built a client base needing more than just software. The company was subsequently re-branded as Secant Technologies, a name without limits as to the type of technology services the company provided.

In 2000, Secant was asked by a long-standing customer to design the systems that would be installed in a building construction project. This marked the beginning of Secant Technologies design and consulting department. Over 500 projects later, the design and consulting department continued to design and manage the implementation of a variety of technology systems including audio-video, surveillance, fiber, wired and wireless networks, VoIP collaboration, and access control in building construction.

In 2018, the original Software Services Group owners looked to begin a new chapter in their lives, the result being the separate sale of Secant’s three departments. With the support of the original four owners and former department director, March 1, 2019 marked the design consulting group’s rebirth as a new independent company - AE Tech Design.

Roger Ferworn

Mr. Ferworn’s fifteen years of experience spans from designing physical systems such as A/V and security to operational technologies including server virtualization, SAN storage, network routing and switching, cabling, wireless, and network security.  His technical experience as well as a back ground in aviation, finance and law enforcement, make him a valuable leader and designer.

Vice President

Courtney James

Formally trained in architecture, Mrs. James has 15 years of experience designing and managing a range of projects involving a multitude of disciplines – from civil to acoustical engineering and architecture to furniture design.  She also has 5+ years of experience in the construction management field, advising designers on construction documents, administering the bid process, assigning project responsibilities to contractors, managing millions of dollars of contracts and successfully closing out projects.  Her career has focused on serving K-12, higher-education and governmental clients, and understands the regulatory and financial reporting requirements of publicly-funded projects.  She understands the challenges the Owner, Architect, and Construction Management team faces when undertaking a capital project and is an asset to the successful coordination required between design and construction.

Nathan Withers

Formally trained as an architect with a passion for technology and knowledge, Mr. Withers has 20+ years of combined experience in the field of technology integration and building design/construction administration.  His knowledge is valuable in every phase of the project from the initial design through installation and final testing.  He deep dives into every system to ensure all components are complimentary including coordination with the architectural and engineering scope.  He consistently seeks ways to further integrate separate systems and provide more holistic design solutions for client ease of use.

Project Manager

Melissa Miller

Mrs. Miller has 20 years of video broadcast media experience combined with project management and office administration.  She skillfully manages projects all over the United States, coordinating contractors’ activities remotely with the client’s schedule.  She is also the lead administration contact and serves as our team’s principal connecting points for all project stakeholders.  She believes no facet of a project is insignificant and ensures that each piece of a client’s project fits neatly into place.
